Bridesmaid Who ‘Went to’ Wedding via iPad Is Totally Lame (VIDEO)

ipad bridesmaidThere comes a point in every person's life when they have to shell out cash for a plane ticket to attend a loved one's wedding. Sure, it's a pain, but we do it anyway. Because these people are important to us. And it's important to them that we're there. However, Renee, a bridesmaid at Jonathan Alberico and Jamie Wilborn's wedding, feels differently. She attended her friend's wedding via iPad.

According to the bride, Renee "called dibs on being a bridesmaid" when the couple first got engaged. But since she couldn't physically make it, she asked to be walked down the aisle -- in what appears to be a long sleeve t-shirt -- in the arms of a groomsman. Who was holding an iPad like an idiot.

Sweet gesture? Ehhh, perhaps. But I've gotta say, the groomsman looked none too pleased to make the trip to the altar holding an Apple device -- and he looked even more awkward standing up next to the other groomsman propping it up during the ceremony.

I've searched high and low, and I can't seem to find the actual reason for Renee's physical absence. If it had anything to do with her health, then, sure, this is a perfectly fine idea (still, a tad odd). But if it simply was a money or an I-couldn't-take-off-work thing, LAME.

A wedding is one of the most special moments in a couple's life. Yes, it's inconvenient having to take off work and purchase a plane ticket, hotel, and rental car, but it's totally worth it. Because you get to be there to share in the joy of your friends or family on their big day. And I'm sorry, but as wonderful as technology is, you just can't get that from watching it "via satellite."

Also, if you ask me, the iPad at the wedding took away from the bride a little bit. As lovely as Jamie looked, how can you not stare at a man in a tuxedo holding an iPad with a close-up of a woman's face?

I say if you can't make it to your friend's wedding, just wait for the pictures instead. And if you can't do that, and need to be there digitally, at least throw on a frilly dress.
