Barcodes on Beach Volleyball Players' Sexy Butts Are Genius

bikini buttsDo you care about beach volleyball? Probably not, right? Hey, no need to explain anything to me. I don't either. But let me ask you this: Would you care about beach volleyball -- just a little bit -- if there was some seriously intriguing advertising on the female players' butts? Ah, now I have your attention.

In order to garner some attention for this -- let's face it, kind of boring -- sport, a couple of British players (Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullin, if you must know) are going to don barcodes on the butts of their teeny-weeny bikini bottoms. What are the barcodes for, you ask? Good question. They're there for people to photograph with their smartphones. Because then said photo will automatically take the user to a specific website.

It's just a little thing I like to call advertising. And it's genius.

Like I said, who really cares about beach volleyball? Not us. We already established that, 'member? Having this little technology thing will get more people to pay attention to the sport. Because, um, hello, everybody loves smartphones. And who doesn't like butts? And, sidebar, have you seen these players' asses? They're works of art. I wouldn't have known this if it weren't for this whole barcode thing. Just call me John Q. Public, Betfair. (Betfair is the company responsible for the codes.)

Typically, I'm against gimmicky advertising. I don't go to the website Snapple tells me to. I don't scratch anything off of my fountain soda cup. And I don't fill out surveys in hopes of winning a $200 shopping spree. But this? This I can get behind. No, I'm not saying I'll take photos of the girls' bums, but I will pay more attention to the sport. Because, like I said, those things are works of art.

Do you think this is a good idea?
