Top 10 Things Moms Use the Computer For

baby collageWhat would moms do without computers? Lucky for us, we'll never have to find out. And that's a very good thing, because computers play a huge part in our lives.

Can you even imagine how our mothers managed without them? (Neither can I!) I can think of about a million different things I use my computer for every day, and I'm sure you can, too. So it was a tough job for us here at The Stir to narrow that list down, but we gave it a shot!

Check it out ... our picks for the Top 10 Things Moms Use the Computer For:

  1. Sharing photos. Back in the day, every holiday, graduation, and party meant moms had to take rolls of film to be developed (get doubles or triples made), pick up the actual shots, and send them off to family and friends. What a time-waster! Hooray for digital images!
  2. Social networking. Between keeping up on invitations, birthday greetings, and just plain staying in touch, we used to have to spend hours on end on the phone or writing cards and letters. No more!
  3. Video chat. If video chat isn't the best thing to happen to faraway grandparents, dads on business trips, and big siblings in college, I don't know what is!
  4. Getting parenting advice. How do you get your baby to give up the binky? I don't know, but there's a search engine out there that does.
  5. Gaming. Even moms (very occasionally) get a few minutes of downtime. What better way to unwind? (It'll be our secret.)
  6. Finding deals. Whether it's scouting out online coupons or scoring low prices through group shopping websites, moms use their computers to save serious cash!
  7. Looking for recipes. Got a pound of ground beef and no idea what to do with it? Our moms would have had to consult their catalog of recipes hand-written on index cards. Aren't you glad we don't?
  8. Homework help. It sure is easier to look up math problems and historical facts online than it was to hunt through that bulky old encyclopedia.
  9. Paying bills. Automatic bill payment is a life-saver for moms who already have too much to think about!
  10. Planning vacations. User reviews of kid-friendly hotels, restaurants, and airlines are the modern version of word-of-mouth.

Did we miss anything? What do you use the computer for?
