Everyone Is Laughing at Your Facebook 'Duckface'

The tagline of the website AntiDuckface pulls no punches: "Because no really, you look stupid."

What they're saying is, you know that face some of you are making whenever a camera is pointed in your direction, where you suck in your cheeks and pooch out your lips and narrow your eyes?

You may be thinking it's your personal Blue Steel, but it's better known these days as a duckface. Blame it on annoying repeat duckface offenders like Miley Cyrus and Lindsay Lohan or the prevalence of "quirky" cameraphone self-portraits, but take note: posting your lipsticked quacker on Facebook may result in more laughs than likes.

Worse, you could end up on AntiDuckface.com, which exists solely to make fun of the photos it hosts. As you might imagine, the comments for each photo are, well, less than flattering:

She seems to be an attractive girl, WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO YOURSELF?!!?!

Her monkey lips make me think I want to see her get destroyed in a cat fight.

Oh so that's what a dementor's kiss looks like...

Still not convinced you should stop with the kissy mouth? Don't take my word for it, just listen to this educational public service announcement, which is totally NOT safe for work or small children:

In conclusion, for your Facebook photos, try and keep the mouth relaxed, the eyebrows in a normal position, and the cheeks un-sucked. If you're having trouble avoiding the duckface temptation, just remember what Derek Zoolander said:

"I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking."

Have you seen any duckfaces popping up among your Facebook friends?
