How was your Valentine's Day? Did your sweetheart give you a box of chocolates? Did you enjoy some sweet bon bons, maybe a candy heart or two, perhaps a heart-shaped frosted cookie? I hope you enjoyed it, whatever you got. Because some women were not so fortunate.

Jimmy Kimmel (that jerk!) decided to ruin Valentine's Day for several couples. He challenged his viewers to give their girlfriends "something they would hate" for Valentine's Day, video record it, and send it on over to the show for posterity. I'll never look at a box of chocolates the same way again.

As it turns out, Valentine's Day isn't just for cynics and over-the-top types who overshare on Facebook. There are others who seem to think of the holiday as a perfect opportunity to spread the love. Like an unidentified elderly couple from Pittsburgh who took it upon themselves to treat two young college students on a date to a $250 dinner at an upscale restaurant last Thursday.

The couple apparently footed the bill for Reddit user gnomiegnomie, who was dining at a nearby table at Pittsburgh's Eleven restaurant. The gift was revealed in a note.

    Check it out ...

Ready for a dose of Valentine's Day cuteness? No, it's not a picture of me in my Snuggie cozying up to my couch cushion, just, you know, eating. You wish! Instead, it's a wonderful and thoughtful video of adorable children sharing their thoughts on love. Kids have the best reactions to Valentine's Day, don't they?

Spoiler alert! When one boy is asked where his parents go on dates, he responds, "Costco." Instant classic. And when a girl's asked what love is, she responds, "Sparkly." Come on!

Whoa, is it really Valentine's Day already? If you're one of the many, many people out there who woke up in a panic because today, this very day, is February 14 (even though you could've sworn it was next week or even the week after), well, this Foolproof Flourless Chocolate Torte just might save your holiday. Seriously. Not only does this amazing cake have Valentine's Day written all over it (in the form of chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate), it's super easy to make -- even though it looks super fancy. Tada! Valentine's Day dessert = done.

Four-year-old Petey Rojas is really, really cute. So, to be perfectly honest, I would happily watch him bake Valentine's Day cupcakes even if they came out looking ... nothing like cupcakes. But it turns out the "baking guru" actually has some pretty sweet skills in the kitchen, as this video attests! I mean, I've been baking cupcakes for quite a while now and it's still a struggle to fill those liners with batter and not drip it all over the place. But not this guy! (Plus, the commentary IS adorable.)

My husband was offended by last week's column on what those candy sweethearts should REALLY say. Well, maybe not so much "offended" as defeated.

Since I was suggesting we replace "BE MINE?" with "R THOSE UR TOENAILS?" he assumed I wasn't that into it, and suggested we just skip the whole thing.

There is only one reply to this: No FREAKIN' WAY!

So maybe our pillow talk isn't what it used to be and I totally get that V-day is a Hallmark holiday. But even a cliche, revenue-driven holiday is a great excuse to enjoy a meal that doesn't involve a kiddie menu or cutting someone else's meat or having to ask "Who keeps kicking me?" 50 times. I wish Hallmark would make up more occasions to celebrate with a card and a romantic dinner, like:

Think you're really special because your husband responded to your email reminding him to buy you flowers for Valentine's Day? Well, evidently we should higher our standards and expectations because there are men out there, er, there was a man out there, who absolutely knew how to make his wife feel cherished and loved on Cupid's big day.

Sue Johnston, 68, from Houston, Texas, wrote into a magazine and explained how her deceased husband to whom she was married for 46 years had a pre-paid arrangement with the florist to send her flowers every Valentine's Day from him, beyond the grave. Read her moving words and just melt into their love. Do it.

When I first started dating my now-fiance, I learned it was a bit of a Valentine's Day tradition for people guys to patiently wait in line at a local candy shop for their famous chocolate covered strawberries. The shop sells a whole assortment of white, milk, and dark chocolate, -- and yeah, they're pretty amazing! So I can understand why they're considered a go-to gift for V-Day.

But the thing is ... the juicy, decadent treat is so easy to DIY! And if you have the time and the tools, why not do it at home? After all, something about giving homemade ones is extra heartfelt, right? Check out the super-easy recipe ...

On Valentine's Day, you might be psyched to win a free bouquet of roses for your sweetheart, free candy to indulge your sweet tooth, or a free massage for a sweet and sensual treat ... NOT a a free divorce! Then again, maybe some people need that more than anything else ...? That's what one Michigan-based lawyer seems to be thinking.

Walter H. Bentley III is running a contest on his website, and will help whichever man or woman tells "the most compelling and convincing story" of why he or she needs to a freebie divorce. Bentley says an example of a "convincing story" might be that somebody was diagnosed with cancer, and as a result, their spouse wants to split. (Ugh??!) Or maybe a foreclosure has wrecked a marriage AND their bank account? Yeesh ... In other words, as Bentley puts it, "someone truly struggling to move forward."

In the Kardashians' world, everything moves so quickly that you never now what's around the corner -- make-ups, breakups, babies, oh my! Although a baby and perhaps several mega-mansions are in Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's future, I wouldn't be surprised if there'll soon be buzz about an impending split ... If only because the two may NOT be spending Valentine's Day together

Wuhoh. Does this mean trouble in Kimye paradise? Pffft, not so fast!
