Is it me, or is this time of year the busiest ever? I know the winter holidays usually take that honor, but I think this time of year may be even more hectic with the end of the school year, planning for summer, and all of the spring activities. For me that means my Crock-Pot is working overtime.

I love throwing in the ingredients for a dish and forgetting about it until dinner time. Some of my favorite staples revolve around pasta. It took me awhile to get used to the idea that pasta could be cooked (and cooked well) in a Crock-Pot, but once I did, it opened a whole new world of delicious and easy dinners. Following are 10 easy pasta dishes you can make in your slow cooker that your whole family will love.

Jack Litsky and his wife recently became vegans to get their cholesterol under control. According to the Litskys, a lot of pasta isn't vegan (who knew?), so they decided to bring their own uncooked noodles to a restaurant in New Jersey. This is where you start to lose me, but AMAZINGLY, the restaurant went ahead and specially made their pasta dish using the Litsky’s pasta and the instructions the Litskys wrote on a card to make it easier for the kitchen staff.

Um, okay -- right there, that’s going WAY beyond the call of duty as a restaurant, but fine. The problem came after the Litskys' third trip to the restaurant, when they requested the same thing and instead of getting charged less, like they had the past two times, they were charged more for the special dish ...

The horse meat scandal continues! Just when you thought it was safe to buy frozen lasagna overseas and ship it to your dinner table in Ohio, it's not. Food company Findus has discovered that some of their frozen "beef" lasagnas contained a whopping 60 to 100 percent horse meat and have recalled the product since the label obviously doesn't match what's inside. Horse meat poses no health risks. It's just kind of grossing people out.

Burger King was accidentally serving horse meat burgers in the U.K., and now the tainted meat supply has made its way into grocery store freezers. But the question everyone's asking is: Could this happen in the U.S.?

There's nothing on this earth that's more delicious than the spaghetti carbonara at Mario Battali's Otto pizzeria, in New York City. It's the most succulent, decadent food I've ever eaten. A lovely little plate of creamy, carb-y goodness with a little pancetta. But if global warming continues its march, wheat may become a precious commodity, and could disappear altogether if things get bad enough. And that could mean the end of pasta (among so many other foods) since the beloved dinner staple is made from wheat.

So what are we going to eat instead in a world without pasta? Or bread? OR pasta and cheesy, garlicky bread at the same time? (I might be hungry...) What can you feed the family when there is no more mac-and-cheese or lasagna?

Mmm, anyone want some SKETTI? Yum yum, it's Honey Boo Boo's favorite dish, next to grilled roadkill, of course. June shows us how she makes this exotic delicacy on the show. It's spaghetti with the family's special sauce: Ketchup mixed with butter. Well, they call it butter but it's actually some sort of margarine.

I have to admit, I was intrigued by this dish. What does that taste like? June makes it look so easy, but do I need any special skills to cook it? (Ha, kidding!) Most importantly, would my kid eat it? I had to find out!

Help! I'm in a dinner rut and I can't get out. Lately we've been eating the same pasta dish over and over again. You know the one: Ground beef, garlic, tomato sauce over noodles, rinse dishes, and repeat. Well no more. It's time for a brisk, springlike breeze of inspiration!

You may have noticed I'm a little bit obsessed with the new cookbook, Real Simple Easy, Delicious Home Cooking. I told you about the mix-and-match cakes and the slow-cooker tacos (made them over the weekend, delish). It's arranged by season and all the recipes are weeknight simple -- but loaded with fresh ingredients.

I discovered the joys of pasta tossed with lemon and cheese a few years ago and I've been obsessed ever since. Not only is it so easy to make that even I, with a kitchen the size of a Smart Car, can make it, but it's so delicious and so unexpected, it will make your taste buds sing.

It's perfect for those picky ones in the family who turn there nose up at tomato sauce -- lemon pasta tastes like a wonderful combination of the savory and the sweet. I know it sounds a little weird but trust me: it's magnificent.
