Grocery Store Ban on Pajamas Targets...Moms?

17

Moms, have you ever quickly run into the grocery store for a carton of milk wearing your PJ's under your coat? That kind of behavior will not be tolerated!—at least in one grocery store in Britain that recently instituted a dress code for its patrons.

So who exactly was this ban against pajamas directed against? You guessed it: Moms.

The grocery store recently posted notices requesting that customers be "appropriately dressed," which means that "footwear must be worn at all times and no nightwear is permitted."

According the store, "many young women have been coming into the store in their slippers and pajamas after dropping their children off at school." The dress code is meant to stop such offensive behavior!

The first person to break the dress code and be subsequently escorted off store property? Elaine Carmody, a 24-year-old mother of two, who was wearing pajamas with a coat pulled over top.

Do you ever wear pajamas to the supermarket? What do you think of this dress code?

Eff that, I would never shop there again.

I don't normally wear my PJs to the store but that's not the point.  I have to go to Walmart and see 500 lb. women wearing nothing but bras and daisy dukes but they're going to ban PAJAMAS?  I'm sure.

I agree that I'd rather see pajamas then a tube top and booty shorts.

Bull.  I'm with the other ladies - slutty, tiny clothes are much more offensive.

What are considered PJS?! Is the ladies wearing their lace gowns? granny gowns? what!?

My Pjs are a Tshirt & sweat pants!

I don't wear my PJs out of the house, but the ban is pretty goofy.

I have seen more men than women wearing pjs in the store!  Maybe it's bc a lot of women's pjs are cute & with the way yoga pants & sweatsuits are now, I think more moms are wearing those as pjs & can easily go undetected as pj wearing mamas! I know bc I am one!

um this is awesome.  how lazy can you be to not put on a pair of pants and some shoes it takes two seconds out of your day. no one needs to be out in public in pajamas it's pretty trashy.  at least wear sweatpants if you wanna be a frump but pajamas? i hope america adapts this asap, although walmart would go out of business ha.

That is crazy! I've went to the store several times in my pajama's! (Never in house slippers) but I have worn my jammie pants numerous times! I don't see the big deal, atleast I'm dressed and not walking into the store naked!

A lot of moms don't have time to get all "dressed up" especially if they are running late of a morning trying to get kids to school and stuff, so I think that ban is really dumb.

If they are going to ban jammies they should ban plump people from wearing spandex and or shirts that are too tight and too short.  I'd much rather see someone wearing jammies than see someones fat hanging out.  (I by no means am skinny but atleast I try to dress for my size!)
