Healthy Breakfast Idea: Broiled Grapefruit

grapefruitI've been eating a lot of grapefruit lately, especially for breakfast. It's loaded with Vitamin C and fiber, and is also thought to be helpful for people trying to lose weight. I like it well-enough on its own, but then I came across Kitchen Parade's recipe for Broiled Grapefruit with cinnamon and brown sugar...have you ever heard of such a thing?

I'm going to try it!

Broiled Grapefruit

1 grapefruit, halved crosswise

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon cumin

Move an oven rack to the top (or second top) position and set the broiler on high. Line a baking sheet with foil or use an oven-safe dish. With a back of a spoon, mash the sugar and spices until a sandy mixture, then spill evenly onto each grapefruit half. Broil for 3 to 6 minutes or until the grapefruit begins to puff and the sugar begins to caramelize.

Have you ever heard of broiling a grapefruit? How do you like to eat it?
