Grilled cheese and tomato soup is the classic sandwich combo. But there are plenty of other sandwich-side dish pairings that would make for a delicious, well-balanced meal.
Here are a few ideas:
- Hummus veggie sandwich with couscous.
- Barbecued chicken breast sandwich with potato salad.
- Turkey sandwich with baked sweet potato fries.
- BBQ pulled pork sandwiches with baked beans.
- Hot ham and cheese sandwiches with cole slaw.
- Grilled portabello mushroom sandwiches with bean salad.
- Reuben sandwich with fruit salad.
- Cheese sandwich and chili.

Uusally potato salad or macaroni salad and a few chips.
if i have a sandwich for lunch i have baby carrots and an apple to go with it.
I normally like chips and fruit. Pasta salads are good too though.
chips... fruit... salads.. pasta salad.. potato salad.. things like that. Depends on what kind of sammies they are.
I like having soup to dip my sammies in.
My kids like Hummos on the side with some pita to dip. Some pickles.. Mac and cheese makes a good size. My kids also like raw veggies as a side wtih ranch dip.
I'm a sandwich and chips kind of gal but I do try to eat better and have veggies, usually carrots and celery on the side with some hummus.
I've also started subbing hummus for mayo on occasion on my sammies, especially when I have avocado on it. Yummo
Soup, salads (potato, macaroni, mac and cheese, cole slaw), fruit (I usually do grapes or apple slices or raisins), cheese sticks or slices, veggies like carrots or celery or even cucumbers.
We love BLT and cucumber/tomatoe/red onion salad!
Pickles and olives and cheese cubes...
