Fall Recipe: Snacking On Cinnamon Popcorn

Kim Conte

cinnamon popcorn recipeThe cooler temps have me craving cinnamon! I like to sprinkle it on freshly popped popcorn with sugar for a sweet snack. But sometimes it doesn't always stick too well. That's why I've got to try the Hip Hostess's mouth-watering recipe for Cinnamon Popcorn—no worries about the cinnamon particles sticking...they're baked right in!

(Note: The recipe on Hip Hostess calls for 5 quarts of popped popcorn—which would be enough for a party. I've reduced the amounts for a family-sized serving, but if you're serving a larger amount, be sure to check out the original Web site.)

4 cups popped popcorn, unsalted

1/4 cup light corn syrup

1/4 cup butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1-2 tablespoons cinnamon

Preheat oven to 250 degrees.. Place popcorn in a large roasting pan. Melt butter in large saucepan, stir in sugar and corn syrup. Bring to a boil. Boil 5 minutes, stir occasionally. Remove from heat; stir in baking soda, salt, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour sugar mixture over popcorn mixture, stirring until evenly coated (work fast, it gets sticky quickly). Bake in oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool, store in an airtight container.
