Bloody Marys for Halloween (Or Anytime)

Did someone order a Bloody Mary? Yup, I believe it was andiemom who sidled up to the virtual bar in the CafeMom Halloween Party and requested this piquant potion. Well, andiemom, this is your lucky day because I am the mix master when it comes to Bloodys, which actually happen to be my all-time favorite beverage. The most important thing to remember: DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT use a prepared bottle mix. From scratch is the only way to go; otherwise, off with your head!

I've made these so many times I just throw in a pinch of this, a dash of that. But for those who prefer exact measurements I found a similar recipe at

Bloody Mary Recipe from

2 ounces vodka (omit if making virgin drink)

4 ounces tomato juice

1/2 teaspoon horseradish

2-3 dashes Worcester sauce

3 or more dashes of Tabasco

Pinch of salt


1/4 ounce fresh lemon juice

Celery salt

Combine all ingredients, stir, and serve over ice in tall glass. Garnish with lemon and lime wedges, jumbo green olives, and celery stalk.
