Someday, when my kids are older and not as demanding, I'd like to slow down a little and savor the process of preparing a meal. It's always so relaxing when I watch them do it on the Food Network.
But today, I'm looking for ways to speed things up in the kitchen so I can get grub on the table and get on with it. Take a look at this video on how to peel a hardboiled egg in 10 seconds ...
I need more of these techniques for some of my most time-consuming tasks ... and food processors don't count, because I don't have one.
- Mincing onions, garlic, celery, everything
- Removing the silver skin from meats
- Grating cheese
- De-veining shrimp
I'm looking for tips so please share any videos, gadgets, techniques, or vouchers for free cooking classes with me.

Wow that is insane! I am so trying this soon. My husband takes egg salad sandwiches to eat for lunch while he is working so I spend lots of time peeling eggs.
Get out...that's crazy!!!!! I am going to try it this weekend. What a great tip!
LOL thats how my grandpa used to do it!!
I never would have thought of that! I'm having a bunch of people over this Sat. and I'm sure deviled eggs will be there!
Um, how sanitary is that? For something I'm making my own family, maybe, not for something I am making for a dinner, picnic, etc.
Oh and why didn't I see this earlier today when I peeled a dozen eggs for pickled eggs? Now that is sanitary since the vinegar would kill bacteria.
Pickled eggs, never heard of them, learn something new everyday!!
Back to the video. That's pretty cool, I don't make a lot of eggs, but you know thats gotta be an awesome trick. I always make eggs for the family reunions but I don't know if I would want to do that to something I am practically feeding strangers (Grandpa's side)
