I Love Applesauce & Other Weird Food Quirks

We all have weird food quirks. Or maybe it's just me. OK, applesauce. When I eat chicken, I must have applesauce. And it must be Mott's Original. This applesauce love started when I was a teenager. And that was a long time ago.

What's also funny is that I don't like apple juice. I enjoy a fresh apple cider on occasion though. And I don't like apples. Mainly because I can't stand cutting them.

I don't like onions. If they are minced and cooked really well, I am OK with them being in my food, but since my husband doesn't like them either, they never come in the house.

I don't eat fish. Shell fish, yes. Anything else, no. I wish I could change this -- I just don't like it. Blame it on a food sickness long ago after eating some flounder.

I like my coffee hot and my tea iced -- no matter what time of year it is.

And we thought kids were the only picky eaters!?

What about you? What are your food quirks?

I am a very picky eater!  If it lived in water it does not go into my mouth!  Ewwww -- I think I am with tomatoes like you are with apples.  I like tomato soup but am not a fan of red sauce, I won't drink tomato juice or eat a tomato but I eat ketchup.  I hate onions but I love onion rings.

Whenever I eat mashed potatoes, I HAVE to have bread & butter pickles to go with them...don't even know why that started...but it's YUMMY!

I love spaghetti and ketchup but hate tomatoes.  I hate onion but love onion rings.  I am very picky, and some of it is texture.

Heeheee - I could write for a while about my food quirks. One of my really weird ones is grape jelly on scrambled eggs. That one happened by accident  - as a picky little kid I didn't like my food touching but my mom made me eat some eggs that had gotten in some jelly I had on my plate. After I tried it (thinking it would be really gross) I decided I liked it better than the eggs alone. It turns the eggs a really gross grayish green color, which may be good for you to know if you ever want to make green eggs & ham or have little kids who like to eat gross-looking stuff. :)

I put an obscene amount of pepper on almost everything I eat. (except sweet stuff!) I can't stand tomatoes in my food, but I'll eat marinara sauce and salsa. I don't eat meat off the bone, I either have to have someone else de-bone it, or I just eat something else. (Hubby hates it that when he gets a bucket of chicken, he has to buy strips, too, so I can eat!)

the only fish i like is flounder and it has to be breaded and fried. i used to be more picky. like i wouldnt eat tomato unless it was sliced on a sandwich or in something. i couldn't just eat a chunk of tomato. now i can. i used to only eat raw carrots in a veggie platter, but now ill eat a lot more veggies raw.
