Easter Recipes: Chocolate Truffles

You could shell out big bucks for fancy, store-bought chocolate truffles...

Or, you could make and decorate your own with this easy recipe!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chocolate Truffles From Kraft Foods

2 1/2 packages (20 squares) Bakers Semisweet Chocolate or White Chocolate

1 package (8 oz) cream cheese

Melt 8 chocolate squares. Beat cream cheese with mixer until creamy. Blend in melted chocolate. Refrigerate until firm. Shape into 36 balls. Place on wax paper-covered baking sheet. Melt remaining chocolate. Use fork to dip truffles, and return to baking sheet. Decorate (see below). Refrigerate for 1 hour.


Decorating Truffles

Careful decoration is key to making your truffles look elegant and professional.

  • Traditional ways to decorate truffles include rolling them in cocoa powder, shredded coconut, or finely chopped toasted nuts.
  • For Easter, you could top with a few (I'm talking only 5-6) pastel-colored sprinkles or sugar pearls, or delicately drizzle with pastel-colored frosting or chocolate.
  • You could also top with a couple mini jelly beans or flower-shaped sprinkles, like these from The Cake Shop:

  • Find mini Easter baskets, candy boxes, and candy liners at craft stores to make your truffle presentation even more charming!
