The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the San Francisco Food Bank received two tons of Michael Phelps' Corn Flakes and Frosted Flakes.
If you remember, the Olympic superstar swimmer was at the center of a marijuana controversy back in February when a photo appeared showing him with a bong. Kellogg's subsequently refused to renew Phelps' endorsement contract.
According to food bank employees, the cereal is flying off the shelves. Apparently cereal is rarely donated, so Phelps' misfortune is good news for the food bank!

I don't care about him and his pot habit. I buy whatever cereal is on sale, I don't care who is on the cover.
But YAY for the food bank! I will remember their cereal needs next time I donate!
Yeah, if it were on sale and I had a coupon and needed some cereal, I'd buy it regardless of who's on the box. My kids don't know who he is anyway. LOL
But I'm glad the food bank is benefitting from this.
I find this rather amusing. It is possible that the cereal was also close or past the expiration date since people aren't buying it because of his pot habit.
Sure, if I needed them. I think this whole thing is stupid, anyway, and people are being ridiculous about it. I would LOVE to get hold to a couple of those boxes...they'll probably be worth a fortune someday.
I'm just glad they didn't throw it away. At least it isn't going to waste. Now, if only they will recycle the boxes (or save them for collectibles. :O))
GLAD TO KNOW THE FOOD BANK IS GETTING HELP...WHO CARES ABOUT HIM AND WHAT HE DOES IN HIS SPARE TIME!!!
Who cares who is on the box? I used to work at a food bank. The BEST thing that ever happened there was the freezer at Longs went out. AFTER they had trashed all of the cheap ice cream (Crystal and such) they were getting ready to throw out the good stuff (think Ben and Jerry´s) and somebody went ¨wait, let´s call the food bank!¨ So I was sent in my pickup to go get all of the ice cream that was left. I had a long bed, it was 95 degrees outside and I was driving with the back of my truck FULL of ice cream as fast as I could safely go the 15 miles back LOL. Thankfully there aren´t any stop signs between there and the speed limit is 55 mph. The clients were in heaven when they got Ben and Jerryś!
Lol it was only pot! If he can win medals high good for him! It is a performance DEhancing drug STFU already
If I liked Corn Flakes and bought name brand, I would. I couldn't care less.
A person in their 20's smoking pot isn't really news, so who cares. I don't condone it, but really, who hasn't made a mi8stake in their lives?
i rarely buy according to the appearance of the box. so i would have still purchased if it hadnt been pulled. so i voted yes.
