If you're one of those people who when it hits midnight on Halloween you feel it's automatically Christmas-time, prepare to feel vindicated.

  • According to experts, putting up holiday decorations early can actually make you a happier person.

“In a world full of stress and anxiety people like to associate to things that make them happy and Christmas decorations evoke those strong feelings of the childhood,” Steve McKeown, psychoanalyst,  told Unlaid. “Decorations are simply an anchor or pathway to those old childhood magical emotions of excitement. So putting up those Christmas decorations early extend the excitement!”

  • Experts also noted that putting up decorations could make you more inviting to friends and neighbors.

The Journal of Environmental Psychology states decorations are social "cues as a way of communicating accessibility to neighbors."

  • Holiday decor can also awaken your inner child, which can help you grow as a human.

Amy Morin, psychotherapist and best-selling author of 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do, said to Unilad:

"The holiday season stirs up a sense of nostalgia. Nostalgia helps link people to their personal past and it helps people understand their identity. For many putting up Christmas decorations early is a way for them to reconnect with their childhoods."

While admittedly this can be bittersweet, especially if it reminds you of a lost loved one, decorating can help one feel even more connected to that individual if you shared happy holiday memories with them.

  • So in short, don't be afraid to stick it to the Grinches this season.

Get your merry on however early you damn well please.
