New Girl Scout Cookie Flavors Are Here -- With a Taste of Nostalgia

new girl scout cookies s'more

The Girl Scouts recently celebrated 100 years: 100 years of female empowerment, 100 years of education, and 100 years of pushing irresistibly yummy cookies on people like myself -- a sucker for an adorable grin, a good cause, and an excuse to break my diet. So it comes as no surprise that they chose to celebrate this major milestone by releasing a new Girl Scout cookie to taunt our taste buds for the first time since 2015.

The new, s'mores flavors will give you campfire vibes, even while you're just sitting in front of your fireplace for the 2017 cookie season. And I say flavors (plural) because there are two variations of the cookie to choose from.

The cookies are described on the company blog as "a crispy graham cookie double dipped in a crème icing and enrobed in a chocolatey coating and a crunchy graham sandwich cookie with a chocolate and marshmallowy filling."

Not only does the choice make sense, but it also actually sounds quite delicious. I wasn't a fan of the 2015 additions in the least bit, so this is refreshing. Not to mention, it makes my mouth water reminiscing of the taste of a hot s'more melting in my mouth.

Nevertheless, as a tried-and-true fan of the originals, I just don't foresee a future where anything tastes better than my beloved Trefoils (Shortbread) and Thin Mints -- it's just not possible. I like what I like. But, I'll keep my complaints to a minimum so long as they don't get any crazy ideas to get rid of the originals.

However, for those of you who are interested in venturing outside of the norm, I must say that these are a sweet supplement to your pumpkin-spice kick when the season for that comes to an abrupt halt (depending on when your local troops starts selling, that is).

Meanwhile, I'm thinking of running off the calories in the pre-season just so that I can indulge guilt-free when the orders start to come in.
