It's also an amazingly delish BBQ chicken recipe with a secret weapon guaranteed to impress even the most jaded chicken eater (in other words, your kids): it's packed with __sweet, but spicy, fruity flavo__r that will make your family members run to the dinner table.

The nice thing about this recipe is that you can adjust the flavor easily by either dabbing your chicken with sauce or drenching it with it -- you decide which way to go. It will taste just like it fell off a BBQ and only you will know it came alive in your good ole slow cooker.

Slow Cooker Fruity BBQ Chicken

Ingredients:

3 pounds assorted chicken drumsticks and thighs

1 tablespoon salt

1 teaspoon pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

For the Fruity BBQ Sauce:

1 cup barbecue sauce

1/2 cup apricot, peach, or grape preserves

2 teaspoons dijon mustard

Directions:

Mix salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Sprinkle on chicken and pat it well. Skin may be removed from chicken if desired. Place chicken in the bottom of a 6 or 7 quart slow cooker and try to get chicken in a single layer if possible.

Cover and set cooker to HI for 3 hours or LOW for 6 hours.

In a small bowl, mix all the Fruity BBQ Sauce ingredients. Set aside.

Remove chicken from slow cooker and place on a plate. Drain juices from the slow cooker crock and wipe the crock dry with a paper towel. Place chicken back in the slow cooker. Pour HALF the sauce over the chicken. Cover and continue cooking on HI for an additional 1 hour or LOW for an additional 2 hours.

Remove chicken from slow cooker and brush with more sauce. You can even pop the chicken under the broiler for 2 minutes to get it crispy.
