Dinner for $10 (or Less): Rosemary Pork Chops in 30 Minutes

Rosemary Pork Chops in 30 minutes

Have you ever gone about your day before quickly saying to yourself, Holy sh--, I don't have anything for dinner!? Let's be honest for a sec: Most, if not all, moms have been here -- which is why you need a savory go-to recipe you can knock out in 30 minutes.

(At least you'll save money by not calling the pizza guy, who would probably get there in the same amount of time. Just sayin'.)

After frantically asking my guy to run to the store and pick up the first packet of meat he could find, I ended up with boneless pork chops on my kitchen counter. With 30 minutes before our normal dinner time, I got to work.

Thankfully, this rosemary pork chop dish is super easy to make.

Rosemary Pork Chops

  • 6 pork loin boneless center cut chops
  • 2 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2–3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar*
  • 1/4 cup red wine -- or cranberry juice, if you don't have it (use what you got, mama)
  • 3–4 sprigs of fresh rosemary*

(*Notes: If you don't have balsamic vinegar in your pantry, you can substitute with four tablespoons red wine or cider vinegar, and two tablespoons sugar. Should you not have fresh rosemary, two tablespoons of dried rosemary leaves will do.)

1.) Preheat the oven at 375 Fahrenheit.

2.) Sprinkle each side of the pork chops with salt, pepper, cumin, and brown sugar.

3.) Heat oil in a large ovenproof skillet (if you have one) on medium-high heat. Cook pork chops on each side for about 5–7 minutes, or until brown.

Serve with fresh veggies and a tasty starch -- rice or potatoes. (Don't eat the rosemary sprigs ... unless you want to.)

Prices of items used:

  • $1 - Fresh rosemary sprigs (price reflects half a $2 pack)

All in all, that's $9.
