Finally, Super Bowl Cocktail Recipes as Sophisticated as You

Football and beer is a combination so tried and tested, we're honestly getting kind of bored. So as we warm up for the Super Bowl this year, we find ourselves craving something fresher, classier, and altogether more interesting. This year, that comes in the form of two expertly concocted (and Super Bowl-inspired) cocktail recipes.

The first recipe comes from Cody Goldstein, the founder of Muddling Memories and head bartender at Upholstery Store: Food and Wine. It's called the Bee Keeper, so we'll obviously be drinking this punchy cocktail in honor of Beyonce's half-time appearance.

  • 1½ parts tequila
  • 1 part lemon juice
  • ½ part honey syrup*
  • 1 teaspoon chopped jalapeño

Directions: Combine ingredients (our recipe makers used CRUZ Tequila) into a shaker and fill with ice. Shake for five seconds and double strain into a coup glass. Garnish with a jalapeño ring.

*Honey Syrup: Combine 1 cup honey and ½ cup water in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Stir, then take off heat and refrigerate.

The second cocktail is a lemon and ginger masterpiece called Clear Skies that's refreshing enough to clear your mind of game-day stress.

  • 1½ parts vodka
  • ¼ agave nectar
  • 3 mint leaves
  • Juice of one lemon
  • Ginger beer

Directions: Fill shaker with ice and add vodka (we like Ménage à Trois Vodka), agave nectar (try Tres Agaves Agave Nectar), mint leaves, and lemon juice. Shake and pour into a highball glass. Top with ginger beer to taste and garnish with a mint leaf that has been smacked in your palm.
