Kraft Issues Massive Recall for Cheese Slices: What You Need to Know

 Kraft recalls cheese on choking hazard If grilled cheese is on your go-to summertime menu, you'd better read this before you prep your kids' favorite sammy! Kraft has voluntarily recalled 36,000 cases of its individually wrapped cheese slices because their thin, plastic wrappers have led some consumers to choke, the company announced Friday.


In a statement issued by Kraft Heinz, 10 customers have reported that the plastic wrapper stuck to a slice, and three of those consumers reported choking. Further, the company states: 

We deeply regret this situation and apologize to any consumers we have disappointed.

The recall applies to 3-lb. and 4-lb. sizes of Kraft Singles American and White American pasteurized prepared cheese product with a Best When Used By Date of 29 DEC 15 through 04 JAN 16, followed by the Manufacturing Code S54 or S55. 

The product in question was shipped by Kraft Heinz to retailers in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Grand Cayman.

If you think you may have purchased this product, the company is advising customers to return it to the store where it was purchased for an exchange or full refund.
