Holiday Ham With a Citrusy Kick

holiday ham with citrus glaze

There is nothing like those special dishes we look forward to all year at the holidays ... but it's less than fun to hover over a hot stove or spend hours scrubbing dishes afterward. As with many meals, the slow cooker is your friend here; it gives you the slow-roasted taste of holiday specialties with only a few minutes of prep work ahead of time.

This ham recipe is great because it boosts a traditional spicy-sweet ham glaze with the kick of citrus, making a pretty predictable dish something special. For my money, ham is the best holiday centerpiece because it's delicious, savory, and a lot more forgiving than turkey or roast beef. Leftovers are quite versatile, as well ... as filling for crepes or omelets, a topping for a baked potato along with broccoli and cheese, or as the sandwich to beat all sandwiches.

Using a slow cooker liner in this recipe makes a huge difference, because cleanup involves emptying and tossing a liner instead of scrubbing baked-on sugar for hours ... I don’t know about you, but "easy cleanup" is about as important as "great taste" in my holiday meal planning! And of course, while this would make a great main dish for any holiday meal, it would also work well for a Sunday feast or a weeknight treat.

Everyone loves seeing ham on the holiday table, so why not deliver it with a little extra flair? The addition of citrus juices and zest in this traditional glazed ham recipe will leave your family wanting more! No one has to know how easy it was to make this recipe with a slow cooker and a slow cooker liner. Instead of having to scrub dishes after dinner, all you have to do is empty the liner and walk away. You’ll be free to spend time with the people you love.
