Generous Diner Gives Waitress With Car Trouble a Commuting Fix She'll Never Forget

Cindi Grady was depressed. She liked her job as a waitress at the Cracker Barrel in Branson, Missouri, but getting to work was extremely difficult lately because -- are you sitting down for this one? -- she'd hit five deer with her car. As you'd imagine, it was in pretty bad shape.

(Don't you wonder if this automobile was releasing some kind of deer-attracting pheromones? I do, but I suppose that's a whole 'nother story!)

Unbeknownst to Grady, a regular customer had taken notice of her sad-looking jalopy over the past few months and was about to do something that would change not just her commute, but her whole outlook on life.

That customer, Gary Tackett, and his wife gave Grady what's being called "the tip of a lifetime," a new car! While it might not be "brand new," it's new to the waitress, who said that the couple's generosity has given her the "best Christmas ever."

Awww! Not only will this reliable ride help Grady get to and from work, it's restored her faith in humanity, she said. But for the Tacketts, who believe that giving is better than receiving, they feel they are the ones who've benefited and agree that this is their best Christmas as well.

Doesn't it warm your heart to think of this couple helping out a stranger in need at this time of year? If you were jostled and bumped during Black Friday sales or have had a wily mom cut in front of you and your kids while waiting to see Santa, it can be hard to imagine that there's good in anyone this season. What the Tacketts have done helps us once again believe in the magic of Christmas.

We're not the only ones who were moved by this story. Others in Grady's community have risen to the occasion to assist her and keep this incredibly positive momentum going. In fact, she said she was able to transfer her car insurance and get her first inspection for free.

Grady's words of wonder and gratitude give us chills:

There are good people in this world that are watching. And you may not even know them.

Does this story inspire you to go of your way for someone in need?
