If you've just returned from apple picking and are looking for new and easy ways to make the most of your bounty, look no further! Or maybe you just bought one of those wonderful-smelling bags o'apples at the local grocery store!

These simple-to-prepare caramel apple donut holes can be made in no time. They're perfect as an afternoon snack or a decadent breakfast treat.

And oh, how the kids and hub will adore you afterwards! These little goodies might even buy you more than just hugs, kisses, smiles, and a chorus of thank yous (free massage, anyone?).

Refrigerated biscuit dough

Apples

Cinnamon and sugar

Caramel (homemade or store-bought)

Vegetable oil (for frying)

Dipped in caramel, or even on their own, these donut holes are just beyond yum -- and make a fun twist on traditional caramel-apple sweets, whether you serve them at breakfast, as a snack, or for dessert. Take a look at how to do it, below, and then tell us:

  • Getting Started

    Grab a roll of refrigerated biscuits, slice up an apple, mix a little cinnamon and sugar, and have some caramel at the ready and you're good to go!

  • Wrap Apples Inside Dough

    Divide each biscuit in either halves or quarters depending on the size you'd like your donut holes to be. (They will puff up significantly while frying.) Then, place some sliced apples inside and roll it into a ball. 

  • Fry in Hot Oil

    Working in batches, place between six and eight donut holes in vegetable oil heated to 375 degrees. Allow them to cook on each side for approximately four to five minutes. Keep a close eye on them! They cook quickly!

  • Rest on Cooling Rack

    After you remove the donuts from the oil, place them on a cooling rack over a cookie sheet lined with paper towels and allow them to cool. 

  • Roll in Cinnamon-Sugar

    Once your donut holes have cooled a bit, roll them in a mix of cinnamon and sugar. Then, drizzle them with either homemade or storebought caramel and prepare to see some very happy faces!
