Not to be a Scrooge here, but I gotta admit that I've never really acquired a taste for eggnog. There's just something about drinking eggs that makes me shudder no matter how much alcohol is involved. For those who respectfully disagree, I've included two eggnog recipes here (virgin and adult). And for those who prefer eggless holiday drinks, stayed tuned tomorrow for my recipe for mulled wine...
"Adult" Eggnog from MarthaStewart.com
(serves 26)
12 eggs, separated
1.5 cups superfine sugar
1 quart whole milk
1.5 quarts heavy cream
3 cups bourbon
1/2 cup dark rum
2 cups cognac
Freshly grated nutmeg
In large bowl, beat egg yolks until thick and pale yellow. Gradually add sugar to yolks. With a wire whisk, beat in milk and 1 quart cream. Add bourbon, rum, and cognac, stirring constantly. Just before serving, beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into mixture. Whip remaining 1/2 quart heavy cream until stiff, and fold in. Sprinkle with nutmeg.
Non-alcoholic Bird-In-Hand Eggnog by BatmansLilMiss (found in The CafeMom Newcomers Club):
1 egg
2 Tbsp. sugar
Dash of Salt
1 C. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Nutmeg
Beat
egg until thick. Stir in sugar and salt until sugar is dissolved. Mix
milk and vanilla in with egg mixture, chill and enjoy. Dust each
serving with nutmeg for a spicy flavor.

I tried it with rum for the first time this year. I've always enjoyed just the regular version (as in the recipe above), but adding the rum added a whole new dimension and really made it much better. Thanks for posting the recipe - I've never made it myself before and now I think I'll try it.
We only have pre-made eggnog. They are pastuerized and less likely to give you salmonella poisoning.
I love it, but we get it from a local farm so it's been pasteurized. It's creamy and delicious and oh-so-fattening. YUM!
I don't like it! But I noticed this year at the grocery store ....I saw a couple new flavors.
I LOVE eggnog! Especially with rum. But I always drink too much and end up with a belly ache, so I try to stay away from it!
i like lil classes of it not to much tho...i had it last year with rum for the first time and i thought it was nasty....but that may have been cuz i was preggo (tho i didnt find out til two days after that)
I make a great home made eggnog...or so I am told...I HATE it! LOL
Ewww! I have to admit, I hate it. Don't get the draw, but my 18 year-old daughter loves it and I always buy some for her. I'm picking her up at the airport this morning, that reminds me, gotta hit the dairy aisle.....thanks!
I love the one I make more than store bought ones. But I cook my eggs....I think it'd be gross if I didn't. I got my recipe from the Better Homes and Gardens cook book, breast cancer awareness edition.
Love eggnog, but only the non-alcoholic kind. I had some last night before I went to bed. I have never tried to make it myself though. I would get turned off it mighty quickly if I had to mix it myself.
