Woman Who Eats More Than Her Weight in Ketchup Really Isn't That Strange

Michele Zipp Say What!?

ketchupWe put ketchup on eggs, French fries, cheeseburgers, and sometimes even on pasta. But one woman loves ketchup on everything and with every meal, even on salads. Yes, salads. I guess it's basically tomato, vinegar, salt, onions, garlic, and some sugar -- and those are all things that can be found in a salad. So maybe it's not so weird after all. What is a bit bizarre is the fact that 19-year-old Melissa Ibbitson eats 165 pounds of ketchup a year. That's more than her own weight.

She's left restaurants if they don't have enough to satisfy her ketchup craving. She's even been known to sip ketchup out of a wine glass (for photo shoots at least). Ibbitson loves her ketchup so much that all her friends give her ketchup-themed gifts and ketchup-inspired birthday cakes each year. How can a person love a condiment that much? Oh they can!

I have to admit, I don't think it's that strange. There is a salad dressing I love so much that I put it on many things. If I have a salad and a plate of dinner, I most likely will dip just about whatever it is I'm eating into that salad dressing. Bread. Pasta with red sauce. A burger. Sushi. There are other condiments that people go crazy over -- put on everything.

1. Mayo. Chocolate mayonnaise cake? Oh yes. Mayo is great on pork chops, French fries, corn on the cob, even hot dogs.

2. Mustard is great on potatoes, on eggs, as a marinade, on French fries, even on a tuna fish sandwich.

3. Hot sauce. People put it on eggs, in popcorn butter, and to spice up hot chocolate.

4. Syrup. Not just for pancakes. Put it on bacon, in coffee, on sausage, even in cereal.

Of course there are also those who use tons of salt and put pepper on everything.

So this ketchup thing ... just not that strange.

What do you think? Does Ibbitson eat too much ketchup? Are you obsessed with any condiments, too?
