With most of the country psyched over temperatures reaching the high 20s after being in a "polar vortex" for days on end, piping hot pick-me-ups are a MUST. Personally, I don't know what I'd do without one of my go-to post-dinner beverages ... No, no, there's no Baileys involved! I'm talkin' 'bout a straight-up, perfect mug of hot cocoa.
Here, a recipe for Toasted Marshmallow Cream Hot Chocolate from How Sweet It Is ... Because just that name alone should have you feeling warmer and cozier!
Toasted Marshmallow Cream Hot Chocolate from HowSweetEats.com
1/2 batch marshmallow cream frosting
2 (14-ounce) cans coconut milk
3/4 cup milk
2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
12 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
Combine the milks, cream, chocolate, vanilla extract, salt, and nutmeg together in a large saucepan and stir constantly until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is heated through. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with a tablespoon or two of the marshmallow cream. The marshmallow is super thick and rich, so keep that in mind when it comes to adding your desired amount. Torch the frosting on top if desired.
