So I was trying to find a recipe for something to do with Nutella, because by the Saturday after Thanksgiving, people are usually pretty done with turkey leftovers, and mashed potato leftovers, and pumpkin pie leftovers, and … well, you catch my drift.
I did what any normal American female would do and hopped over to Pinterest and searched for Nutella recipes. Boy, we do love our Nutella, don’t we? Anyway, I saw a couple involving pound cake, and more than a few involving bananas … so let’s just combine it all and see what we come up with, mmmkay?
- Pound cake ( I bought frozen pre-sliced stuff and it was awesome)
- Butter (softened at room temperature)
Begine by assembling your ingredients.
Realize you've failed as a mother when the kids ask, "What's that?" when they see the Nutella. Give them a spoonful each. Own them for life.
Slice the banana, spread Nutella on one side of each slice of pound cake, and start assembling. Now would be a good time to put your skillet over low heat.
Make a sandwich! Then realize you have no idea how you're going to butter the bread. And um, it looks pretty thick. Start panicking that this isn't going to work.
Butter one side of the bread, and decide to butter the other side once it's in the skillet. You. Are. A. Genius.
Turn the burner off and vow to try again. Come back a moment later, and realize the underside is now perfectly toasted. Throw away the burned piece of pound cake and dig in.
Realize that nothing is perfect. Decide not to care, because your mouth is full of crispy buttered toasted pound cake, melty chocolate hazelnut spread, and bananas.
