Red, White & Blue Shake Recipe for Labor Day That Tastes as Good as It Looks

Yum! 3

patriotic shakesIt's almost the official end of summer. Can you believe it? Please, weep with me. So why not celebrate all things warm, patriotic, and decadent with some red, white, and blue milkshakes? Say good-bye to summer and hello to Labor Day weekend with a refreshing beverage that the kids will love too!

All you need is some vanilla ice cream and red and blue gel coloring. Seriously. That's it! Nothing could be easier. The original recipe calls for homemade vanilla ice cream, but I'm sure the store-bought kind would do just fine as well. You could even add some blended ice for a slushy effect. The possibilities are endless! Enjoy the long weekend and soak up these final days before September comes.

Ingredients:

Bucket/container of vanilla ice cream

Red and blue gel color

Directions:

Divide batch of vanilla ice cream into 3 equal parts. Place 1/3 of the plain vanilla back into the freezer. Mix up 1/3 of vanilla with red and the remaining 1/3 with blue gel color in separate containers. Fill glasses 1/3 full of blue ice cream and place back in the freezer to set. Follow with 1/3 white and 1/3 red, allowing each layer to set in between.

Feel free to garnish with whipped cream and sprinkles.

That's not a shake, that's a glass of ice cream.

Oh, so the picture is unrelated. I'm kind of disappointed. Despite that, this recipe is just vanilla icecream. Haha. Nice
