Cucamelons & 4 Other Foods Too Cute NOT to Eat

cucamelonHave you seen this fruit? Meet the cucamelon, a "savory fruit" you can grow yourself. Is it a cucumber ... or is it a melon? Who cares, when it's this adorable! I've never tasted one myself, but now I'm going to have to hunt some down. Suddenly I feel like my summer will not be complete without them.

If you think the cucamelon is cute, check out these four other wee little fruits and vegetables. Wouldn't you love to see them all together in the same bowl? Have you ever tried ...

Growing up, we grew the little bananas in our backyard in Florida. They were delicious :)

I eat kumquats until they make me sick. My swing was between kumquat bushes when I was little and the swing sides of the bushes were always picked bare. ;0)

for Kumquats it's the skin that is sweet the inner fruit is very bitter/sour so you have to eat the skin to enjoy them. As for a place to get Sour Gherkins, I got my seed from Seed Savers Exchange (seedsavers.org) They have all kinds of cool/rare plants.

I bought the sour gherkins from seedsavers too. Unfortunately I didn't have much luck with cukes here. The rest I have eaten before.

This was very helpful! Ive been looking for simple fruit to grow, that doesnt need a lot of peeling/cutting to eat. Thanks!
