Here's a marriage that was made in dessert heaven -- Rice Krispies bars and Oreo cookies. I honestly can't believe I didn't think of combining them sooner, because it's brilliant.
I saw the recipe for Oreo Rice Krispies Treats over at Chef in Training, and it's simple as can be. You basically just add chopped up Oreos (lots of them!) to the traditionally marshmallowy treats. If you want to get fancy, you can drizzle some white chocolate over them, but that's just a bonus. They're perfect to take to bake sales, pot lucks, or other occasions when you need a quick and easy dessert to impress.
Oreo Rice Krispie Treats
6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
20 Regular Oreos chopped
5 cups mini marshmallows
3 Tbsp. butter
White chocolate for drizzle optional
Spray a 9x13 dish with cooking spray.
In a large bowl, pour measured Rice Krispies Cereal.
Chop and mash Oreos then add to Rice Krispies cereal and stir to combine.
In a medium sauce pan, heat butter and marshmallows together over medium heat, stirring constantly, until they melt together.
Pour that mixture over cereal and Oreos and use a spatula sprayed with non-stick cooking spray to quickly combine all the ingredients.
As soon as all the cereal is combined, spread mixture into the prepared 9×13″ dish. Use the spatula to press the mixture around the dish, and flatten as needed.
Let cool, then drizzle with melted white chocolate, if you're so inclined.
