Rude Waiter Calls Customers ‘Fat Girls’ on Restaurant Bill but It Gets Worse

OMG 117

Fat GirlsOh, this is bad. Really bad. Three women went out for a night on the town in Stockton, California, last week and just wanted to have some food and fun. At the Cameo Club Casino's restaurant, they each ordered a tri-tip with fries and a soda, but when the bill came, they were floored -- and not because of the price.

There printed at the top was "Fat Girls." According to ABC News 10, one of the women, Christine Duran, saw it and couldn't believe her eyes. When she told her friends, they thought she was joking at first, but when she showed it to them, they were understandably shocked and outraged. "I was like, 'Oh, heck no,'" Isabel Robles told the station.

So they called the server over, and that's when things went from bad to worse.

He denied having anything to do with it and said some worker named "Jeff" must have put it in the system that way to keep track of their bill. A manager didn't make things any better, and Duran told ABC News he "had like a smirk on his face, like it was funny but trying not to laugh." For their trouble he offered them a 25 percent discount.

A 25 percent discount?! Talk about adding insult to injury. He finally bumped it up to 50 percent, but the women chose their dignity instead and refused his offers. Good for them. First of all this should have NEVER happened. It was rude, childish, and so many other deplorable things, but since it did, that manager should have bent over backwards to try and make things better ... like comping their entire freaking bill for starters.

The restaurant has since issued an apology, and "Jeff" has been suspended for the time being, and that's great, but the damage has been done. These ladies are justifiably still reeling from such cruel behavior. Robles said, "It's not funny. I can just see it over and over again, and I still can't believe it. They labeled us 'fat girls.' It's just something we got to deal with."

And it does nothing to improve the already volatile relationship between customers and restaurant workers. Seriously, it feels like there's some huge passive-aggressive wave of behavior as of late when it comes to servers and customers. From diners leaving cruel tips for waitresses to a Papa John's receipt that contained a totally outrageous racist slur, these incidents seem to be happening with far too much regularity, and they need to stop. And here we wonder why so many of our children are bullies and being bullied. With so many awful examples like this from "adults," what else can we expect?

How would you react if a restaurant did something like this?

Wow, just wow. I did not watch the video, but the comments are do negative and hurtful.

What ever happened to if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all? How about a description such as "table 3" or "3 ladies, white shirt, red shirt green shirt"?

To those who commented it is a "fact" so not "mean", how about other physical descriptors that are "fact"? Bald? (Chemo survivor). Scar face? (burn victim). Stumpy? (one legged war veteran). Skeletor? (anorexia). I could go on, but the thought is actually nauseating.

Stop using your version of the "truth" to be mean spirited. Show some compassion.

And yes, I am fat.

Hahaha....you girls are B's...I would LOVE for you to call your fat friend fat to their face, or a co-worker fat cause it's a fact! Oh wait, that will never happen cause you are weak and know it is WRONG!!! Love how tough "little girls" are on the internet...hahaha!

I normally would NEVER EVER say this because I was a waitress but in this instance I so would have dined and dashed - bump that fool!

I'm fat girl, and if I got a bill in a restaurant stating as such.... First I would congratulate them on having sight, then I would be just as kind and return the favor with.... and here is no tip for the waiter with zits, or no package, or ugly hair, or a badly placed birthmark, or yellow teeth .... Fat is not the only "flaw" that can be pointed out. Return the favor and remind them that they are not perfect either !

Obviously, it was rude and I'm sure the waiter didn't know it would show up on their bill.... but if a basketball team came in and they labelled the bill "tall guys" no one would even care and it definitely wouldn't have made the news. And obviously they can't be that "humiliated" by it .... going on tv and the internet and drawing more attention to themselves.

I'm sure the waiter didnt type that to be mean or negative. It kind of seems like these girls are trying to make a bigger deal out of the situation maybe for money or some other kind of financial gain

Wow its awesome of all you wretched people in here to say its ok because these women are overweight. Insulting people based.on their physical appearance is just a douchebag move. Clearly you would mark it as you saw it if a down syndrome individual or wheel chair bound person came in right. Our flaws are not yours to judge. We judge ourselves enough , clearly you are perfect and this must not apply to you mean women in here...Im sure thats why your husbands will all cheat on you and you will end up alone, drunk and desperate.

I think it's common in order for waiters to keep customers straight to describe them on their bills. I don't think it's very nice, but it's not like they were supposed to see it and they are fat. Would it have been any different if it said "skinny girls". It's an adjective. Same thing for "lady chinky eyes", it's descriptive and was meant for internal use.  I do have a problem with the one where they wrote on the check "stop eating bitch" and left no tip. That's just being purposely cruel.
