Have a Honey Boo Boo Thanksgiving With This Awesome Redneck Feast

honey boo boo

Say what you will about Honey Boo Boo and her reality TV clan, but one thing is for sure -- they know how to have a good time. Whether they are mud bogging or extreme couponing, Alana, her mama June, daddy Mike (aka Sugar Bear), and sisters Chickadee, Chubbs, and Pumpkin enjoy quality time with each other. They especially love sharing big, pants-bursting, down-home meals. We've watched them happily devour everything from "sketti" to cheesy puffs to baby back ribs and clearly they enjoyed every finger-lickin' moment. So this Thanksgiving, we have crafted the perfect Thanksgiving menu for the sassy, pint-sized pageant queen and her kin.

From pig's feet to fried pie, this is a holiday meal Honey Boo Boo style:

deep fried turkey

Paula Deen's recipe for Deep Fried Turkey is deliciously simple.

  • 1 (10-pound) turkey
  • 2 tablespoons House Seasoning, recipe follows
  • 2 tablespoons of your favorite dry rub
  • 3 to 5 gallons peanut oil

Cooks Note: To measure the amount of oil needed to fry the turkey, place turkey in fryer, add water to top of turkey, remove the turkey, and the water line will indicate how much oil will be needed to fry your turkey. Having too much oil can cause a fire. The pot should not be more than 3/4 full or the oil could overflow when the turkey is added.

Wash bird inside and out, and allow to drain. Rub turkey all over with House Seasoning. Coat turkey with dry rub. Allow the bird to sit until it reaches room temperature.

Heat peanut oil in a turkey fryer or a very, very large stockpot to 350 degrees F. Lower turkey into hot oil, very carefully, making sure it is fully submerged. Fry turkey for 3 minutes per pound plus 5 minutes per bird. Remove turkey from oil and drain on paper towels.

House Seasoning:
1 cup salt
1/4 cup black pepper
1/4 cup garlic powder

bacon wrapped

This easy Bacon Wraped Squirrel recipe comes from TeamJimmyJoe.com:

  • A bunch of squirrel legs (front and rear)
  • Beer
  • Garlic powder
  • Pepper
  • Salt
  • Minced onion
  • Hot sauce
  • Hickory smoked bacon

Soak the legs in beer for 2 to 3 hours. Remove and drain. Sprinkle each leg with garlic powder, pepper, salt, and minced onion. Then dab on the hot sauce.

Wrap each leg with a slice of bacon and secure it with a wooden toothpick. Place on grill and cook over medium heat until they look done.

fried apple pies

For dessert, Jimmy Joe's deliciously sweet Mammy's Fried Apple Pies will hit the spot.

  • 4-5 large Granny Smith apples
  • Stick of butter
  • Cup of loosely packed light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • Dash of allspice
  • Powdered sugar
  • Pastry shells

Peel and core apples and cut into half-inch pieces. Melt butter in a heavy skillet on medium high heat. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, and allspice. Stir to dissolve sugar. Add apples to mixture, stir to coat well, and reduce heat to simmer. Simmer until apples are tender but remain in wedges.

Cut pastry shells into squares. Place a tablespoon or two of apples on each side of the dough and fold into triangle. Lightly dampen the edges with ice water and use a fork to press and seal the edges together.

In another skillet, place 1 cup oil and heat on medium high heat. Fry pies until golden brown on each side. Drain and sprinkle the top with powdered sugar.

snow ball

If they hanker for an extra sweet treat, there's Snow Ice Cream

If it snows, just place a bowl outside and wait for the flakes to pile up. Sprinkle with sugar and Kool-Aid or Tang.
