Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes have a cult-like following. Even though the coffee chain seems to be bringing them out earlier and earlier every year, pushing pumpkin on us when we're still in flip-flops, they definitely hold a special place in my heart. Forget falling leaves, chillier temps, sweaters ... It's almost as if we rely on this one flavorful, cozy drink to ring in autumn.
Think that may be taking it too far? Well, think again! Starbucks fans on Twitter went berserk when some locations reportedly ran out of the drink's signature pumpkin spice syrup due to unexpectedly high demand. A couple sample tweets: “Starbucks is out of Pumpkin Spice Latte. NOW WHAT,” wrote one fan, while @TheFakeCNN poked fun by tweeting, “BREAKING: Fights between soccer moms on the rise after Starbucks announces Pumpkin Spice Latte shortage." Geeeze! It was enough to think, "OMG IT'S THE PUMPKIN SPICE LATTEPOCALPYSE!"
Thankfully, we can all now rest assured that any potential shortage never existed in the first place or has been completely averted by Starbucks corporate ...
A Starbucks representative denied any major problems, claiming that the distribution centers are now "100 percent stocked" with ingredients necessary for the in-high-demand PSL. Global Brand PR Director Lisa Passe told ABC: “I can confirm that there are no actual pumpkin emergencies." Whewwwww!!
Apparently, a few stores initially sold out of the drinks due to higher than expected demand, but have no fear -- they were able to order more as quickly as that evening or even borrow the pumpkin spice syrup from other stores until their shipments arrived, she said.

Talk about going to great lengths for your seasonal treat. And you know, what? This is just further proof that people are truly out of control with this pumpkin-mania this year! Nothing's gonna stand between Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte fanatics and their cult-ish coffee!
Well, hopefully, this averted crisis helped Starbucks learn their lesson. Because I wouldn't be surprised if there's almost as much enthusiasm for next month's holiday drinks, and the last thing they need is another "IT'S THE END TIMES!" Twitter backlash over gingerbread lattes. Yeesh!
Would you flip out if Starbucks ran out of pumpkin spice syrup?
