If you can't beat 'em, join 'em -- or if you're Playboy Enterprises, I guess you try and beat 'em no matter what. And now in what seems to be an effort to up the ante on their reputation for sophistication, the Playboy Wine Club has been introduced to fans of the magazine (and I guess wine lovers as well).
And the new Playboy Wine Club definitely aims to cater to the most (ahem) discerning tastes, as it offers wines not only individually, but in packages with appropriate names such as "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes", "Variety Is the Spice of Life", and "Playboy Blind Date."
When describing the club, the CEO of Playboy Enterprises, Scott Flanders, said:
We carefully select a handful of wines that represent the essence of the Playboy brand -- delightfully jovial, indulgent, and carefully crafted -- while catering to the consumer's desires to celebrate life and live it with a little style.
Sounds pretty good -- and I'm guessing there are quite a few men who will be more than happy to join. What man wouldn't love to have a wine collection that gives him a leg up on a lifestyle full of fun, relaxation, and of course, super-hot women who are all to eager to crack open those bottles of wine and live in the moment?
And here's another plus -- at least if the men who join the wine club aren't fortunate enough to have a date on a Saturday night, they can curl up on the couch at home with a nice glass of red and peruse the latest issue of Playboy to ease their loneliness a tad. Yeah, I'd say this club is a win-win no matter how you look at it.
Do you think Playboy Enterprises will have any success in the wine industry?
