Yummy 'Happy Face' Waffles Make Breakfast a Blast!

happy face wafflesBack-to-school breakfasts can be quite a challenge, as any mom will tell you. My biggest problem has always been getting my groggy kids interested in eating at such an early hour. It's a long time until lunch, after all, and low-blood sugar never helped anybody learn how to do fractions or diagram sentences!

That's why I love these Happy Face Waffles from Dash. Kids can help with preparation for a little first thing in the morning fun, and because they're made with whole grains, fruits, and nuts, they're way more nutritious than any plain old bowl of cereal.

Happy Face Waffles

Ingredients:

4 100% whole grain waffles

1/2 cup peanut butter

Apple, banana, and strawberry slices

Cherry or strawberry jam

Walnut halves and cashews

More from The Stir: Perfectly Sweet Raspberry White Chocolate Muffins

Directions:

1. Toast waffles. Spread with peanut butter.

2. Unleash your inner artist and make faces like this one, using the ingredients listed or substituting other favorite fruits and nuts.

Serves: 4. Per Serving: 310 calories, 29g carbs, 11g protein, 19g fat, 0mg cholesterol, 360mg sodium, 4g fiber
