Dear Chick-fil-A: Miss Piggy is officially breaking up with you! The Muppets has partnered with the chain in the past, making toys for their kiddie meals. But no longer. In response to CEO Dan "guilty as charged" Cathay's support for anti-gay groups, the Jim Henson Company announced that they're severing ties with Chick-fil-A.
As Kermit the Frog would say, YAAAY!!!
Not only that -- they're taking the proceeds earned from their newly-dissolved partnership and donating them to gay rights organization GLAAD. Their Facebook announcement has been going viral the past couple of days, rousing gay-rights supporters, angering opponents, and generally making all of us crave fried chicken. But back to the Muppets! Here's what they said.
The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over fifty years and we have notified Chick-Fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors. Lisa Henson, our CEO, is personally a strong supporter of gay marriage and has directed us to donate the payment we received from Chick-fil-A to GLAAD. (http://www.glaad.org/)
Good for them. I especially love how they're using that Chick-fil-A check!
Also turning a cold shoulder to the chain: Mayor of Boston Thomas Menino said he would do everything he could to block the chain from opening a restaurant in the city. Which is fine, because plenty of other restaurants are cooking up cheap, fast-food fried chicken. I mean, who really loses if there's no Chick-fil-A in your town?
But hey, Chick-fil-A, you lost the Muppets but you gained Mike Huckabee, who is almost as hilarious! Though not always on purpose. He wrote in support of the chain on his Facebook page and declared August 1 "Chick-fil-A appreciation day." So mark your calendars, people who oppose same-sex marriage. Can't wait to see the super-cute Mike Huckabee figurines in your kiddie meals. That's so going to rock.
What do you think of the Muppets' announcement that their cutting ties with Chick-fil-A?

I don't agree with their views at all. Their food actually makes me sick (MSG gives me migraines), but I wouldn't eat there anyway. But I think that someone trying to ban Chick-fil-A is taking it too far. If you don't agree with their views, don't give them your business. But this is America and they have a right to their views. They also have a right to run their business the way they want to.
Yeah, I'll tolerate and respect your opinions so long as those opinions aren't to not give equal rights to everyone. Having the opinion that same sex couples shouldn't have the same rights as heterosexual couples should NOT be respected. I do, however, respect a person opinion that being in a same sex relationship is wrong because that opinion doesn't actually hurt anyone. I think it is awesome they are standing up for their beliefs.
Amanda, in the interview, Cathy also mentions the fact that they (i believe his family, or owners of the company) are not divorced. So that to me would mean that they support the nuclear family unit. mother, father, and children, and that the organizations that they affiliate themselves with would strive to promote that
Somehow I bet if they were donating to some pro child molestation fund, noone would be going on about this "difference of opinion" nonsense.
And on another note.
Why do people like this place so much? I tried it once and it didn't seem spectacular at all. The fries were boring and the chicken wasn't even crispy... Not much flavor.
their beliefs are theres not everyones .. It wont hurt them if I don't eat there
