Fast Food Worker Stomps on Lettuce but Justice Is Served

lettuce stomperYuck! Have you seen this photo of a psychopathic fast food employee standing in two bins of chopped lettuce -- the same chopped lettuce that goes right into customers' hamburgers? Dude had his shoes on (actually, I'm not sure if that makes it more gross than barefoot) and he posted it on 4Chan with the caption, "This is the lettuce you eat at Burger King."

Yeah well, this is the photo that gets you fired, asshat. An angry mob of Internet-savvy vigilantes used GPS data to track the posting to a restaurant in suburban Cleveland -- within 15 minutes of the photo's posting! Yo, that's some fast service. Apparently the employee and the shift manager are getting canned.

Yes! Hot, steaming justice served on a sesame seed bun. I love it. According to the Cleveland Scene, when the photo was shown to a breakfast manager at the restaurant, she immediately said, "Oh I know who that is. He's getting fired." Apparently the perp was a longtime employee with a clean record. But probably not clean shoes.

Burger King's corporate office released a statement, saying the photo violates their food handling procedures: "Food safety is a top priority at all Burger King restaurants and the company maintains a zero-tolerance policy against any violations such as the one in question." You don't say!

But the real heroes here are the "anons" who hunted down this photo to its source. They have saved a nation of fast food fans from the fear of sneaker-contaminated lettuce. That is, until someone else gets the same idea. Please, Lord, don't let this rebel-fast-food-employee-photo idea go viral!

Do you think this sort of thing happens a lot behind the scenes or do you think most managers keep your food safe from rogue employees?
