Needles Found in Airline's Sandwiches Make Us Fear Airplane Food Even More

turkey sandwich"Welcome to Delta Airlines. This is your captain speaking. We're expecting a little turbulence on this flight, and oh by the way, there are needles in those turkey sandwiches. Enjoy the flight!" Needles in turkey sandwiches. It happened -- and not just on one Delta flight. It happened on FOUR Delta flights. In all, five sandwiches have been found with what appear to be sewing needles inside them. Only one person has been injured, thank goodness.

No one knows how those needles got in there, either. Lord knows needles are the last thing any airline would purposefully put in a sandwich. Sad, flavorless tomatoes, maybe, but never needles. So how did they get there? The FBI is investigating.

The sandwiches were made by an Amsterdam catering company called Gate Gourmet -- and they have no freaking idea how the needles got there, either. "We take this matter very seriously, and we have launched our own full-scale investigation." Well YEAH! They're also "heightening our already stringent safety and security procedures, to prevent any recurrence."

But whatever, no one is going to feel like ordering a turkey sandwich on an airplane again any time soon. I don't know about you, but I happen to be needle-intolerant. I just can't digest them. You, too? For that matter, travelers are probably losing their appetites for all airline food. Who knows what's in the lasagna? Broken glass?

Obviously whoever spiked those sandwiches with needles is a sick, sick individual. Like we don't have enough to worry about when we travel! Forget the shoe bomber. Now terrorism is showing up between the lettuce and turkey. Quick raise of hands, who here will be packing their own lunch next time they fly? Definitely me. Sorry well-meaning Dutch catering company.

What's the most disturbing thing you've ever found in your food?
