Well I hope you like Oreos because between Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins, there are about NINE different Oreo-inspired treats coming your way this summer. How do you like your chocolate sandwich cookies, in donut form or frozen? One for almost each finger? One for each day of the week plus extras on the weekend for good behavior?
If it seem like 2012 has been all about Oreos, it's because this is their 100th birthday. Good luck NOT eating an Oreo this summer, I'll put it that way. But I'm not complaining. These new treats look fantabulous. Would you like to meet them?
Oreo Donuts: Dunkin' Donuts has created two yeast ring donuts covered in vanilla frosting and Oreo cooke crumbles -- one with a vanilla cream filling, one without. These are the least exciting Oreo creations, IMHO.
Oreo Cookie Cake: From Baskin-Robbins, what your kids may want for their birthday. Vanilla ice cream with cookies top chocolate cake. Sure, why not.
Oreo Ice Cream Cake Bites: Take that Oreo cake, shrink it down small enough to fit it in your hand, and cover the whole thing with a fudgy frosting. Super cute.
Frozen drinks: Baskin-Robbins will be serving up the Oreo 31° Below Soft Serve shake and Dunkin' Donuts is offering Oreo Coolattas in Coffee and Vanilla Bean. All three make me want to whip out my blender and make something cool and frosty with chocolate cookies.
Oreo 'N Chocolate Ice Cream: Now we're talking! This is Baskin-Robbins' ice cream flavor of the month. They use that flavor to make their Layered Sundae: Hot fudge, marshmallow, whipped cream, more cookie pieces. Yes, please.
As tasty as that Oreo chocolate ice cream looks, I have to tell you, I made some of that chocolate cookies and cream ice cream I posted a couple weeks ago and it's awesome. Just saying. Also, still no rainbow Oreo cookies IRL. Sorry.
Would you try any of these Oreo-inspired treats?
