I get a lot of grief for my dining out ordering style. At Chipotle, it goes a little something like this: "Just a little brown rice ... extra lettuce ... could I get a little more chicken? Sour cream on the side." So, okay, I admit -- I can be a bit of a Sally Albright (you know, from When Harry Met Sally), but that's only because I'm trying to be healthy. And now I know I am really not that crazy, because there are people out there who are even more particular than I am ... So much more!
Take this totally insane story out of East Hartford, Connecticut. A man named Rother McLennon called 911 -- because his deli sandwich order didn't meet his specifications!

McLennon reportedly placed a phone order for 14 sandwiches made with a lot of cheese and mayo and just a little turkey and ham. The deli owner, Tila Zinheira, said she made the sandwiches as he asked, but then he decided he didn't want to pay for them. So he asked if he could use the deli's phone to dial 911! And he began the call talking about how he's displeased with how his sandwiches were made ...
I specifically asked for little turkey, and little ham, a lot of cheese and a lot of mayonnaise and they are giving me a hard time. I wonder if you can stop by and just …
That's when the East Hartford dispatcher interrupts with, "You're calling 911 because you don't like the way that they're making your sandwich?"
HA! I mean ... it's dumbfounding, but hilarious. I swear, the guy wasn't joking. You can listen to the whole 911 call here, or watch the local news report video below for excerpts.
Love when the reporter says, "The East Hartford dispatcher, usually used to getting calls about fires and fallen trees, now getting a call about too much meat and not enough cheese!" Ridiculous. Although I guess it's reassuring that, in the end, McLennon apologized for his behavior. But seriously, people, never call 911 about your lunch again -- unless it really is an emergency, ya hear?!
Can you believe this guy?!

We watch a program called "The World's Dumbest..." and each week it highlights a different dumb activity. I forsee this incident being featured in the near future!
I most certainly can believe this happened. As a 9-1-1 dispatcher I get some calls that would make you scratch your head and ask if people really call for these things.
I hope they fined him for non-emergency call.
what a nutjob!!! i don't understand why people don't understand that 911 is for emergencies ONLY!!! i've never called 911 before in my life, only the regular police number to complain about a loud party still going on at 2am. i don't get why people can't comprehend the difference between the police dispatchers, and emergency dispatchers. i mean, i never called 911 to complain about noise, because excessive noise is not an emergency!! (unless it's screams or something, obviously) this guy needs to be ticketed. he's an idiot.
