Fast Food Lies II: Meals That Disappoint in Real Life

by Adriana Velez on May 9, 2012 at 4:44 PM

chef's choiceIt's time for another round of Fast Food Lies! A while back we tried this with just a handful of fast food -- we compared the advertisement pictures with the real thing to see how they measure up for Fast Food Lies I. No one really expects their burgers to look exactly like they do in the commercial. But when you see those luscious pictures, get the craving, and then finally cave and buy the snack, wouldn't it be nice if they actually at least vaguely resembled what you've been fantasizing about?

That's what we think. Check out these 8 fast food snacks to see which ads come close -- and which ones are just lyin' to you!

Burger King Crispy Chicken Wrap

That shy crispy chicken wanted to hide! It's small. But what do you expect for a dollar? Anyway, thanks to this cross section, we can verify that there is indeed chicken in there.

Yea that's one reason why I'm not a fan of those places. The only fast food place that I religiously go to that's a chain is chipotle. Worth the money, looks great all the time,  and its one of the most healthy chains out there.

I've recently had the KFC pot pie and it was far from appetizing. It was flat out disgusting!

Every once in awhile I get a craving for some fast food. My mind tricks me and only remembers those times when the food was fresh and actually tasted good. The reality however is that 9 times out of 10, I wish I hadn't wasted my money. Even when they're busy my local McDonalds serves fries that are hours old, usually those brown ones that you can tell were cold and then refried so they wouldn't be wasted. That's if they even remember to put the fries in the bag which is about a 50/50 chance. You can't go through the drive thru at any of these places unless your willing to sit there and examine every item to make sure they didn't fuck it up. Even when you don't make special requests, it's like they don't know what goes on their own food. Even if the food weren't completely unhealthy, it just isn't worth the hassle.

You always ALWAYS eat taco bell right away lol their tacos are the only fast food that I eat although I know for sure its not healthy its one of the things I can't resist. Good thing the closest one is a town away otherwise I'd be a gelatinous slob by now lol

I worked at Taco Bell for 3 years.

You can't say that your experience is going to be true for all of those places.

    All fast food sucks.

Agree about the slide show! Just put them all on one page and we can scroll down. And I really enjoy these types of articles with the ad vs real comparison. I also agree about mcdonalds fries. When I do get that urge which isnt often, it's always such a waste of money bc I get those old hard as a rock fries.
