Obama Should Let Guy Fieri Choose All His Foodie Campaign Stops

obama at the sinkIs President Obama on the campaign trail -- or is he just following Guy Fieri on a tour of his favorite eats? This week Obama unexpectedly dropped by The Sink, a burger restaurant in Boulder, Colorado. The President was in Boulder to give a speech at the University of Colorado. But at the last minute he decided he was hungry and that this was the place to go.

Fieri featured The Sink on his show, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, and left behind his trademark stencil and autograph. I guess Obama decided that if the world cares if "Guy Ate Here" it would also care if "Obama Ate Here" -- so he signed his name on the wall right next to Guy's signature.

Mr. President! Graffiti is against the law. I'm just kidding. Go 'head and tag away. It's just Boulder.

Apparently it was fine with The Sink, too. They, ahem, ate it all up.

Do you ever wonder how presidential candidates decide where to make those restaurant campaign stops? Like, did Obama go on Yelp or Citysearch on his Android? Or did he ask an intern to research the best foodie spots? Obama is kind of a foodie, you know.

Obama could do worse than to follow Guy's restaurant recommendations. All he has to do is follow Guy's Flickr set of tags. Say, Aldo's Harbor Restaurant when he stops in Santa Cruz, California. Or Park View Nite Club when he's in Cleveland, Ohio. You KNOW the President is going to spend a lot of time in Ohio. And Florida! How about Havana Hideout in Lake Worth? Well anyway, that's what I would do. But then, I'm the sort of dork who ends up working late because she spent 20 minutes waiting in line for a special sandwich. (Psst. Mr. President, have you been to No. 7 Sub?)

How do you get restaurant recommendations when you travel?
