We know we are what we eat, but do we know what we're eating? Chances are, not really. Even the most conscientious label readers among us can be fooled, because too often those labels are lying.
It's sad, scary, and true. According to the Huffington Post, food fraud is a growing trend. So much of our food today is imported, and it's pretty easy to fool most consumers. So buyer beware, especially of the following five common foods that are prime targets for fake substitutes. You'll never view the contents of your grocery cart the same way again.

What's the big problem with slideshows? If you're mobile I can see it, but ...
The farmer's market thing is a point I have tried to make before. We really don't know where our food comes from unless we grow it. And not everyone can do that. I can't. Can't even grow marigolds. My husband will be upset about the Kobe beef, though, since he raves about how much better it is than American beef. I never could tell the difference.
Olive oil? Really? We love our Olive Oil!
Interesting!
Good article. I didn't know a lot of that stuff. I would be mad if my milk was watered down. I pay over $4 for a gallon of it. :/
not digging the slides either... just saying.
Anyway, I buy evoo, but I dont care about brand so much, I just buy whatevers on sale. Sorry but it frys my chicken for chicken parm so much better then veggie oil.
Thanks for the article
slide shows are annoying.
This is sad about the olive oil, but honestly if you buy a cheap $3 bottle versus a $10 bottle...you can certainly taste a difference. Its like a wine...
I love olive oil, so I am still going to keep buying it.
I like real food!
