5 Most Ridiculous Groceries I Bought Because I Had a Coupon

grocery store couponsAs someone who gets a thrill when I see a sale rack, receive a gift certificate, or hear about a deal, I sure do have some mixed feelings about coupons when I head to the grocery store. Even if I remember my coupons (which is quite rare), I've been known to forget to remove them from my purse. Clearly, my head is telling me to save money, but my heart just won't allow it. Maybe it's because grocery stores hate them, or maybe I'm just carrying coupons for the wrong products.

So I'm stooping to blaming the actual food for my lack of coupon discipline. After all, if I had a coupon for free Ben & Jerry's, you know I'd be remembering that thing. It's usually the coupons for the must-haves that I'm buying anyway, or the ones for the randoms that I shouldn't be buying that lay at the bottom of my purse until they expire.

I think it's clear by the following five ridiculous food stuffs I've purchased with coupons that I should just give it up and pay full price at the check-out.

1. Frozen Dinner

This may not seem like a big deal. But when it's the same brand of a frozen dinner that gave me food poisoning that almost cost me my life, yeah, that's stupid.

2. Two Family Style Bags of Potato Chips

I didn't even need one, but I had a coupon. Then I get to the front of the store and realize the coupon is not for one bag, but you must purchase two. So of course I have to go get another bag. I'm pretty sure I just lost money on that deal.

3. One Seriously Disgusting Flavor of Coffee Creamer

That I knew I wouldn't like, but bought it "for guests." Because I want to give my guests something disgusting in their morning coffee?

4. "Holiday" Dinner Package

When I had already bought the turkey and what I needed for sides. I still have some frozen apple pies in my freezer from that one. Did I mention I really don't like apple pies? Plus, I can't even eat them because they have gluten?

5. Wine

When you have a coupon for wine, there's a reason. The reason is THAT WINE SUCKS. Also, it doesn't have any alcohol in it, because apparently it's illegal to have wine coupons. That's why you should read the fine print.

Have you bought ridiculous things because you have a coupon?
