peanut butter straight from the jarI'm sure you all have it marked down and underlined three times on your calendars, but I'll remind you of it just in case: Today is National Peanut Butter Lover's Day, and it would be an unforgivable crime to watch this momentous day come and go without celebrating (unless, of course, you have a severe peanut allergy and in that case feel free to check back tomorrow for National Banana Creme Pie Day).

Typically, peanut butter is a very kid-centric food, but the simple fact of the matter is that adults love it, too. So we've compiled some mouthwatering peanut butter recipes for those peanut butter lovers with more grown-up tastes. Are you ready to dive right in?

First things first, we can't make it through the day without a peanut butter sandwich. But let's give the ordinary version a makeover: Make a sandwich using two slices of good sandwich bread spread with peanut butter, Nutella, and mashed ripe banana. Then grill in a fry pan in butter until it's golden brown on both sides. Don't share with ANYONE.

Now when I say "adults only peanut butter recipe," what immediately came to mind? Yeah me, too. One peanut butter cup cocktail is coming right up! Blend 1.5 oz. vodka, 1.5 oz. coconut rum, two scoops vanilla ice cream, two tablespoons peanut butter, and two tablespoons chocolate syrup. Cheers!

If you're not into milkshakes, another drinkable idea is this cheeky Peanut Butter and Jealous cocktail. It's fresh raspberries muddled with raspberry vodka, raspberry liquor, and cranberry juice (this is the "jelly"), then garnished with a triangle of peanut butter sandwich wedged on the rim of the glass. So cute.

Now it's time to amp up the decadence with Mini Buckeye Cheesecakes. It's Oreo cookie crust, creamy peanut butter cheese cake filling, and rich chocolate ganache topping ... oh why can't every day be National Peanut Butter Day?

Gourmet popcorn is all the rage these days. Take advantage of the trend with this White Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn: It's popcorn glazed with melted white chocolate and peanut butter, then mixed with M&M's and chopped peanuts. Mmmmmm.

Or how about eating it spooned straight from the jar? We promise we won't tell.

What's your favorite peanut butter recipe?
