Fast Food Worker Serves Chicken With a Side of Racism

chick fil aWhat is it with Chick-fil-A? First they fight against the most virtuous vegetable on the planet: Kale. Hey, what did kale ever do to them? Now there's more bad news coming from Chick-ville: A cashier in Orange County, California labeled the receipts of two Asian customers as "Ching" and "Chong" instead of their actual names. FACEPALM!

We all know this is NOT OKAY, right, everyone? Chick-fil-A's public relations VP Don Perry was quick to say that the fast food company does not condone the racist slur at all: This was "simply [a] case of immaturity, failed judgment, and human error." The cashier was fired. But I'm starting to wonder, is Chick-fil-A the fast food restaurant for cranks?

It's like Chick is on the verge of becoming the clubhouse for people who identify as politically-incorrect grouches. There's the company's loose ties with anti-gay groups. When you add that to their opposition to the "Eat Kale" T-shirt and this latest lovely incident, it all starts to paint a cranky portrait of the fast food company.

Hey, fried chicken place, where is the love? Why do you only like literate cows? Why are you not spreading the holiday cheer these days?

Maybe I'm being too hard on Chick-fil-A. After all, Kevin Lee, who posted the two offensive receipts on his blog, doesn't think the incident speaks for the whole company. He posted,

I realize Chik-Fil-A [sic] hasn't exactly had the best track record when it comes to issues of social justice, but I don’t think the horrible mistake on the part of one individual is reason enough to launch a witch hunt. There’s no way the person who hired this woman would have been able to know she’d do something so stupid.

All Kevin wants is for people to "be respectful and THINK." So there is your holiday message for the week -- no lump of coal in Chick-fil-A's stocking this year after all. Well, maybe a small piece for that cashier.

Do you think it's fair to judge Chick-fil-A by its employees?

I guess we just got lucky here in OK. I have never experienced anything but kind and even chipper employees at the Chick-fil-As here.

By crank, do you mean prank? And, no. It's not just there. PEOPLE are stupid. As far as anti-gay ties...They CATERED an event. They are a BUSINESS. They were making MONEY. All kinds of places have catered events for them, not just Chick-Fil-A. Are they anti-gay, too? Or, is is just a restaurant whose founders are Christian? How convenient.

Ditto what Amy said.  In Texas, all the employees I have dealt with have been super sweet (and on PMS'ing days, TOO sweet! lol) and very respectful.  They are a Christian based company, and the employees they hire (as I said, at least the ones I have been to) are very respectful, polite and gracious.

It this guy didnt want to start shit, why did he post something about it and then say "I dont want a witchhunt". The restaurant has nothing to do with this. This was the actions of ONE cashier. What do you want them to do, ask every single person, 'are you going to write racist slurs on receipts"?

Just because someone post/share something does not mean they were trying to start shit. He wanted to share it on his blog like, " wow, really?" Type of thing. He said he knows just that one employee doesn't represent the restaurant. Geez, get a little mad there? Lmao some ppl are funny.

Fun, make ASSumtions much?? I am not angry. I just see where this is going. No matter how many times he says its not the company, the company will be somehow blamed. Just like in this bloggers post. She blames and trashes the restaurant.
