I usually know I've found a winning recipe, when I say the title and start to salivate. Cheddar bacon ranch pulls did just the trick. I ran across this recipe on Plain Chicken, and it's plain addictive -- she also refers to it as "crack bread."
It's an easy way to spice up an otherwise standard meal or to wow company. It can be served as a bread course with dinner or as a nice hearty appetizer. I won't promise you that it's light, but I will promise that it will disappear.
Cheddar Bacon Ranch Pulls (a.k.a. Crack Bread)
1 unsliced loaf of (round is preferable) sourdough bread
8-12 oz cheddar cheese, thinly sliced
3 oz bag Oscar Mayer Real Bacon bits
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 Tbsp ranch dressing mix
Using a sharp bread knife cut the bread going both directions. Do not cut through the bottom crust.
Place slices of cheese in between cuts.
Sprinkle bacon bits on bread, making sure to get in between cuts.
Mix together butter and Ranch dressing mix.
Pour over bread.
Wrap in foil the entire loaf in foil and place on a baking sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Unwrap. Bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted.

Sounds really good. I'd probably use real bacon crumbled up though. But my hubby would definitely eat it all up!
