Amazing Mini Pizza Bites

mini pizza biteWhen it comes to pizza, I'm all about the toppings. The thinner the crust, the better, because that means more toppings, less bread. These mini pizza bites embrace the same philosophy. Using paper-thin won ton wrappers as a crust, you can fill them with your favorite meats, cheeses, and vegetables.

They make great appetizers, snacks, or even a fun dinner served with a big salad. The following recipe from Mrs. Schwartz's Kitchen uses heavy meat -- sausage and salami -- but you can fill them with whatever you like. I love the simplicity of the ones pictured above that use just tomato, mozzarella, parmesan, garlic, basil, and oregano too.

Mini Pizza Bites

2 lbs Ground Sausage
2 12 oz cans of pizza sauce
2 packets of Won Ton wrappers 
2 cups Mozzarella Cheese 
10 slices of thinly cut salami (sliced thin into strips)
10 peperoncini peppers thinly sliced 

Brown sausage and cook thoroughly. Drain on a plate lined with paper towel.

Add the sausage back to the pan and pour in the pizza sauce.  Let bubble for a few minutes. 

Cut the won ton wrappers with a biscuit cutter and place them one at a time into a mini muffin tin.  

Fill the won tons with the pizza sauce and sausage mixture about 3/4 of the way full.

Top with cheese, salami and peperoncini (and or other pizza toppings). 
Cook at  375 degrees for about 10 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
