I recently bought a slow cooker, and am fascinated by all the amazing things I can make in it. For too long, I thought it was only for things like pot roast and things you'd bring to a church basement social. But oh how wrong I was. One of my favorite recent experiments: Dessert!
This recipe for chocolate pudding cake was given to me by a friend, and it's amazing and so incredibly easy. You just put in a couple of ingredients, let it cook for a few hours, then you have warm, delicious chocolate cake. How did I not discover the beauty of this thing sooner?

Sounds delicious although I too stay away from mixes. Trader Joe's has some fairly healthy ones in a pinch though!
As a baker I think this is great idea!!! I need a break from the oven. Oh and yes there are PLENTY of natural and organic cake mixes as Melissa stated.
There is a caramel applesauce cake that you can make in the slow cooker. No box mix necessary. I think it is on Parents.com
Elyse Gomez I also tried this recipe today and it has been in for 4 hours and it is still all gooey!!! I thought maybe I did something wrong. I think maybe the directions weren't specific enough. Perhaps the pot needed a trip to the fridge with the pudding in it so it had a chance to set up. When I poured the cake mix in it mixed all in with the pudding and I'm thinking that is the problem. Who knows but I probably won't try this again.
Water is a chemical, so is sugar, milk, eggs, if it is not an element than it is a chemical. So good luck staying away from chemicals, they are everywhere. LOL
